Athlon 64

by Michael Greifenkamp (June 7th, 2005)

Well I finally got around to building a new Windows-based PC. The "case mod" value of this is marginal at best, but I figured I'd share some pictures and information anyway.

I bought a new Antec case--quite frankly I think the old Enlight case was too tall and had too many unneccesary large drive bays. And the window kit that I installed never did fit quite right. And of course, there are those hacked-in USB ports (blech). There were all sorts of different cases that already had windows installed in them, but all of them looked a little too, well, LAN-party-ish for me or something.

Here's the guts:

The processor is an Athlon 64 3000+ and is mounted on an Asus A8V motherboard. I have a GeForce 5200MX video card with 128 megs of video RAM. I have a 160 gig Western Digital SATA hard drive, 1 gig of PC3200 DDR memory, and I used my zip drive, DVD-ROM drive, and Plextor CD-RW drive from the old machine.
