Homemade Pizza Dough

by Michael Greifenkamp (September 2nd, 2013)

Ingredients

Preparation

Mix the yeast, warm water, and sugar in a small bowl. Water should be warm but not hot (too hot will kill the yeast). Set aside for about 10 minutes (it will get foamy when the yeast is doing its thing).

Mix salt, olive oil, and 2 cups of flour in a mixing bowl. Pour the yeast/water into the mixture and start mixing on a low speed. Continue to add flour gradually to the mixture until it starts pulling away from the bowl and forming a ball. Once you have a ball of dough that isn't sticking to the bowl you have added enough flour.

Cover the mixing bowl with a towel (or lid if you have one) and let rise in a warm (not hot) place for 30 minutes or so.

Lightly spread olive oil or cooking spread on a pan before spreading the dough out to make your pizza. This recipe should yield enough dough for two pizzas. Cover with toppings and cook at 400° for 15 minutes or until the cheese on top is melted.
