Storm of the Century!

Okay, maybe not, but they still make it out that it is going to get pretty ugly here in Illinois in the next couple of days.

Well, the drive home was already nasty. We drove about 30 miles per hour on Route 130. I think we could have done maybe low- to mid-40s, but there was a car in front of us and I was neither going to pass nor argue with them about their speed so we took our time and got home when we got home.

We're supposed to get almost a foot and a half of snow in the next 48 hours.

I just hope the power stays on, and yes, I know I just jinxed myself by writing that.

Work has been crazy busy since I started my new job. I need to get back to blogging. I almost accidentally made it a full month with no updates--yikes. I'll try to do better in February.

Not doing well with the diet but I am drinking a lot less beer and even less wine, and I bet that is a huge part of the weight problem, not just from the empty calories but also from the way it affects regular food digestion.

We just finished up a full year of not spending a single penny using a credit card. Yep. Nothing but cash for a full year (well, debit card, but you get the idea). It was rough, I'll be honest. But our debt has decreased dramatically and our life changes have allowed us to start to get out of the hole and become financially sound. TMI, probably.

No golf club again this year. But I'm good with it. That leaves all sorts of money available to go play real courses that actually have 18 holes and look nice and have sand traps and are an actual challenge. That's not to say we may never join the country club again, but just not this year. Looking forward to lots of golf around the area this year.

Okay, I need to go help with dinner.
